That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor--and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when Stanford's reigning lab tyrant agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. But when a big science conference goes haywire, putting Olive's career on the Bunsen burner, Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support and even more unyielding... six-pack abs.
Suddenly their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion. And Olive discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope.
Review: I had this book on my TBR since it showed up all over TikTok but then my friend told me she was reading it and loved it so I thought I'd try it out. I listened to this on Audible and it was a very easy listen. The story had me enthralled right away and, even though these romance books are as predictable as Hallmark Christmas movies, I still couldn't stop listening because I needed to know what came next. There was just enough science jargon to make it obvious that the author did her research but not too much that someone who knows nothing about science wouldn't be able to follow it.
I will say my only complaint was the sex scene. Don't get me wrong, it was...spicy...but some of the ways things were described or explained just didn't make sense or "ruined the moment" so to speak. I haven't read a whole lot of books with sex in them to know if that's just how it goes but there were some parts that made me go "huh..?"
